It is expected that Jasprit Bumrah won’t play in the T20 World Cup.

When renowned pacer Jasprit Bumrah was forced to withdraw owing to a back injury, Team India suffered a major loss with just a few weeks till the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Bumrah missed the opening T20 match against South Africa on Wednesday and, the following day, flew to Bangalore’s National Cricket Academy to have his back problem assessed.

His injury isn’t looking good right now, therefore it appears he won’t be going to Australia with the Indian team, according to what we’ve been told. The medical team will present a thorough report soon. Even though Bumrah missed the Asia Cup in the UAE last month because of a back issue, it is still unclear whether he would undergo surgery.

He took part in the second and third T20s in Nagpur and Hyderabad after receiving clearance to play in this month’s domestic three-T20 series against Australia.

His bowling statistics in Nagpur were 1/23 in 2 over and Hyderabad was 0/50 in 4 overs.

Indian T20 game-ending bowling has recently drawn criticism. Bumrah was anticipated to be the team’s leader at the World Cup, which will take place from October 16 to November 13. However, runs have all been leaked by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, and Arshdeep Singh. India will play Pakistan in their maiden game on October 23 at the MCG.

In the six T20 internationals Bumrah has played in Australia, he has eight wickets at an economy rate of 8.08 and an average of 22.75.

The BCCI has removed Bumrah from the opening Twenty20 match against South Africa scheduled for this Wednesday in Thiruvananthapuram because he complained of back pain on Tuesday during India’s practice session. It had said that the BCCI Medical Team had examined him.

If Bumrah is completely ruled out of the competition, the selection committee would have to decide between Mohammad Shami and Deepak Chahar, who has been added as stand-by players for the T20 World Cup.

Shami and Chahar, who both excel in the Power play, aren’t well renowned for their bowling in the later innings.
Shami was unable to participate in the series against Australia and South Africa because of Covid. He hasn’t participated in a T20I for India since India’s World Cup match against Afghanistan last year. He had, however, taken the most wickets for the champion Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 with 20. Before the commencement of the T20 series against Australia earlier this month, team captain Rohit Sharma emphasized the value of Bumrah to the group.

“Bumrah is a crucial participant. Over the past few years, he has performed at a very high level. Rohit had earlier said that because he is an aggressive bowler, the team loses without him.

Only the famous Ricky Ponting, former captain of Sri Lanka Mahela Jayawardene, and former Australian great Mark Waugh selected Bumrah as one of the top five players for the World Cup.

He’s a great bowler in all formats, in my opinion. His ability to take wickets is vital in T20 cricket. He can bowl up front and at the death, according to Waugh.
